This 4-day course will introduce the shooter a solid foundation of skillsets enabling them to accurately and efficiently utilize a RECCE/SPR type carbine equipped with a LPVO (Low Power Variable Optic) in a variety of applications.

This 4-day course will introduce the shooter a solid foundation of skillsets enabling them to accurately and efficiently utilize a RECCE/SPR type carbine equipped with a LPVO (Low Power Variable Optic) in a variety of applications.

Prerequisite: This is not an entry level course. Shooters are expected to have a foundation in safe carbine handling and carbine function prior to attending class. Courses which have covered carbine safety, function and Military and Law Enforcement (who have completed a basic Carbine course accepted by their respective department or Police Officer Standards Commision) will meet this prerequisite. If you are uncertain if you meet these requirements

Subjects Covered:

-Firearm Safety and Fundamentals -Shooting Positions (including from the tripod, barricade/cover and other environmental structures as determined by hosting facility)

-Carbine Setup/Caliber/Optics/Equipment Considerations -Multiple Target Engagements (25-600 yds)

-Minute-of-Angle versus Miliradians -Moving Target Engagements (100-400 yds)

-Introduction to Internal/External/Terminal Ballistics -Introduction to Wind Calls and “Gun Number”

-Establishing Zero -Reticle Focal Planes and Types

-Armorer/Gunsmithing Considerations Specific to SPR/RECCE Rifles

(Basic armor equipment will be available for student use during the course, if you have questions regarding any specialty tools for your particular weapon system please contact us for assistance)

Equipment Requirements:

-AR-15 Type Carbine chambered in 5.56mm (.300 Blk, 6.5 Grendel and 6mmARC also acceptable) capable of 1-2 minutes of angle (1-2” at 100 yards) utilizing match grade ammunition.

**AR-10 type weapon systems chambered in “long range” calibers and are generally not allowed contact us for further information.

-Low Power Variable Optic and suitable mount

-Off-Set/Piggy-Back style redot sight or offset iron sights

-Bipod

-1,000 rounds of ammunition. (500 Rounds of FMJ Ammunition and 500 Rounds of Match Grade Ammunition)

NO ARMOR PIERCING OR STEEL CORE AMMUNTION WILL BE ALLOWED

-At least 5 magazines (7 magazines recommended) to include at least three 30 round magazines and two 20 rounds magazines.

-Load Carrying Equipment or Belt to Carry Magazines

-Small Day Pack

-Rear Support Bag (Two options will be available for purchase on the first day of class)

-Appropriate Range Clothing/Boots Athletic Shoes/Baseball/Boonie Style Hat, Shooting Glasses and Ear Protection
